Mumbai: Navbharat Times (NBT) has appointed journalist Namita Joshi as the Editor of its Sunday Edition, making her the first woman to hold this position in the newspaper’s history. She succeeds Rajesh Mittal, who recently retired from the role.
Joshi, currently a Senior Editor, has been instrumental in shaping the paper’s features section for over a decade. Known for her in-depth work on women’s issues, she pens the widely read column “Kabhi Socha Hai…” (Ever Thought About…), which highlights sensitive and thought-provoking subjects that resonate strongly with readers.
Her career at NBT began as a trainee, and over the years she has worked across the news desk, front page, and national pages, in addition to contributing to the editorial section. This wide-ranging experience has earned her respect across the newsroom and among readers alike.
Beyond her editorial work, Joshi has also driven several impactful initiatives. She is the creative mind behind NBT’s All Women Bike Rally, an annual International Women’s Day event, and has been actively leading the “Barabari Ki Bhasha” (Language of Equality) campaign, championing gender equality and inclusivity.
With her new appointment, Joshi is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the Sunday Edition while continuing her long-standing efforts to spotlight women’s voices and social issues.
