Chennai: The second edition of Tamil Ratna Awards (2019) by News7 Tamil concluded on a grand note. The award night gained prominence with participation of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palanisamy as the Chief Guest.
The award night started with the Managing Director News7 Tamil V Subramanian receiving the CM with a grand reception, followed by his welcome address.
The awardees selected by distinguished committee of Jurors were honoured for their exceptional contributed to the development and welfare of Tamil diaspora and the society.
The Navaratna awards are to be given away in the fields of Music, Drama, Cinema, Business, Sports and Women empowerment. Further, to acknowledge and honor the YuvaSakthi (Youth), three special awards were given to youngsters, who are an inspiration to today’s generation. To crown it all, Tamil Ratna award bestowed to eminent personalities for their lifetime contribution and honoured with a trophy and citation.

• ThozhilRatna title for Sibi Selvan towards his contribution in field of Business
• MagalirRatna title for Bharathi Baskarfor bring the most Inspiring Women
• YuvaRatna title for Vizhiyan for inspiring Children by Stories
• ShakthiRatna title for Transgender Nalina Prasitha for bring the inspiration for Transgender community
Actor Write Crazy Mohan was honored with Special Category Awards posthumously for his contribution towards theatre and art along with historian MuthalankurichiKamarasu.
Agriculture Science M.S.Swaminathan was named the “Tamil Ratna 2019” for his lifetime contribution towards the filed of Agriculture Science and scripting the green revolution in India.
