New Delhi: NDTV 24×7 has announced the appointment of Padmaja Joshi as Managing Editor and Primetime Anchor, marking the return of the channel’s iconic primetime show The Buck Stops Here. Known for her precision, presence, and patience, Padmaja brings over two decades of newsroom and field experience to her new role, promising the same editorial rigour with a renewed purpose.
From tracking elections on the ground to leading high-stakes newsrooms, Padmaja has worked across formats, languages, and networks. At India Today, she anchored People’s Court and oversaw day-band editorial output, while at Times Now she helmed Newshour Agenda and India Upfront, both slot leaders under her watch. She also directed the Output Desk during one of the channel’s most successful phases. Her coverage includes major events such as the West Bengal and Bihar elections, Delhi riots, and multiple Lok Sabha polls.
At TV9 Network, she anchored In Your Interest on News9 and bilingual shows Adi and Parvah Desh Ki on TV9 Bharatvarsh.
“Inform, not instigate” has been her guiding principle, and with her at the helm, The Buck Stops Here is set to bring sharper questions, deeper context, and uncompromising editorial clarity to viewers.
On joining NDTV, Joshi said, “Journalism isn’t about making noise. It’s about making sense. And NDTV, for me, has long stood for that kind of journalism — measured, meticulous, meaningful. I am excited to be part of that tradition.”
Rahul Kanwal, CEO & Editor-in-Chief of NDTV, welcomed her, stating, “Padmaja brings to NDTV an editorial steadiness that is increasingly rare — a blend of field instinct, newsroom leadership, and unshakeable credibility. She understands the rhythm of a breaking story and the silence it sometimes needs. We are thrilled to have her voice here.”
Shaped by some of India’s most demanding newsrooms, Joshi’s arrival signals NDTV’s commitment to “inform, not instigate” and to uphold journalism that is as “measured” as it is impactful.
