Trichy: In a landmark initiative to make the joy of learning accessible to every child, Payir Trust, in partnership with Amagi Media Labs Ltd., has launched Aarvam, an exploratorium dedicated to nurturing scientific curiosity and creativity among children from underserved communities.
Spanning 2 acres, Aarvam is located in Thenur village, one of the most remote areas in Trichy district, and is designed as a multi-disciplinary learning laboratory for students from government and low-income schools across 20+ villages. The immersive hands-on learning experience is aligned with the Samacheer Kalvi (Tamil Nadu State Board) curriculum, with students participating in 80 hours of structured learning throughout the academic year.
Senthil Kumar Gopalan, Founder of Payir, stated, “Curiosity is at the heart of all learning, and with Aarvam, we are creating a space where children can wonder, explore, and grow. This is just the beginning of our endeavour to redefine what education can look like in rural India.”
Speaking on the occasion, Baskar Subramanian, Managing Director and CEO of Amagi, said, “At Amagi, Goodness Wins is our way of showing up for the world. Aarvam reflects that belief, and this exploratorium was made possible because of the philanthropic endeavour of Amagi employees. We are proud to partner with Payir to help nurture curiosity in children and create this space where joyful learning can thrive.”
The Aarvam curriculum goes beyond traditional subjects, covering STEAM and Humanities, with special emphasis on Earth Sciences, Space and Maker Labs, Ecology, Arts, and Mathematics—integrated into a holistic learning environment. The facility is also built on sustainability principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle, making it cost-effective, eco-friendly, and context-sensitive to the needs of rural communities.
With the potential to benefit over 3,000 children annually, Aarvam represents a significant step toward bridging the educational divide and empowering children in rural Tamil Nadu with opportunities to learn, experiment, and dream.
