Planet Marathi Completes Four Years of Operations in the Entertainment Industry

Planet Marathi OTT completes one year; plans to launch gamification, NFT's and a dedicated section for music

Mumbai: Under the leadership of Akshay Bardapurkar, Planet Marathi completes four glorious years of disruptive innovation in the entertainment industry. Akshay set the foundation stone of this entertainment powerhouse in 2017 with a vision to give Marathi language and Marathi content its rightful place in the entertainment business. Today Planet Marathi has become a torch-bearer of the industry with Planet Marathi Production, Planet Marathi OTT, and Planet Talent and their journey has been exemplary.

The first mega-movie, with captivating storyline and enthralling performances, AB Aani CD saw a global release on Amazon Prime and marked the debut of Bollywood’s superstar Amitabh Bachchan in the Marathi film industry. Planet Marathi will soon present two more mammoth productions in Marathi. First is the emotional tale of Goshta Eka Paithanichi written and directed by Shantanu Ganesh Rode and second is a content-driven feature film based on Vishwas Patil’s novel ‘Chandramukhi’. These hard-hitting stories are backed by the strongest actors, directors, and film experts promise to make Marathi movies seem larger than life.

Recognizing the deferred treatment Marathi content gets, on other OTT platforms, visionary Akshay Bardapurkar in association with actor Pushkar Shrotri and music composer Aditya Oak,have created a Marathi OTT platform. Planet Marathi OTT – ‘Ma Maanaacha, M Marathicha’, is the first-ever Marathi OTT platform that offers thousands of hours’ worth of binge-worthy Marathi content for a global audience. Planet Marathi OTT’s even enables the ‘first day – first show’ experience, especially for the Marathi films through their feature ‘Planet Marathi Digital Theatre’. Now audiences can purchase their tickets online at a one-time fee. This platform will certainly re-define how Marathi content will be consumed globally. With big-wigs like Amit Bhandari, Ujjwal Nirgudkar, and Singapore-based investment entity, VISTAS MEDIA CAPITAL, onboard, Planet Marathi promises to take Marathi content, talent, and filmmaking to global heights.

Akshay has been a torch-bearer of Marathi talent in the industry and always encourages fresh talent, passionate filmmakers, and disruptive thinking in the Marathi entertainment industry. Many renowned celebrities like Prajakta Mali, Tejaswwini Pandit, Amruta Khanvilkar, Sayali Sanjeev, Sanjay Jadhav, Siddharth Jadhav, and others, are now a part of Planet Talent where the potential of Marathi artists is treasured and nurtured.

Recapitulating his journey of last 4 years with Planet Marathi, Akshay Bardapurkar says, “Planet Marathi is committed to redefining Marathi entertainment. In years to come, this platform has the potential to become the focal point of a revolution in Marathi entertainment. The last four years have laid the foundation of a strong movement – a movement to open up the world to the sheer magnificence of Marathi.”

Planet Marathi has always been active in philanthropic initiatives. In face of adversities the world is facing now, Planet Marathi marked their four-year anniversary with one of a kind of celebration. Planet Marathi OTT has come forward with an initiative‘ Planet Marathi Salaam’, acknowledges the work of celebrities and common people helping the COVID affected patients, families, and infrastructure with digital video certificates. The objective is to applaud the ‘heroes who are making a difference’ and to encourage more people in sharing the social responsibility.

The last four years of Planet Marathi saw an array of offerings that Planet Marathi offers Marathi content, Marathi talent and most importantly, Marathi audiences. Planet Marathi in itself is now an ecosystem that continues to create fresh and meaningful entertainment.
