Mumbai: In a landmark move poised to redefine the landscape of Indian storytelling, Pratilipi, India’s largest digital storytelling platform, has entered into a strategic content partnership with the acclaimed production house Roy Kapur Films (RKF). The collaboration aims to co-develop and produce a slate of films and series, bringing Pratilipi’s expansive and diverse story universe to screen with RKF’s creative and production excellence.
With over 30 million monthly active users, 1.6 million writers, and millions of stories across 12 Indian languages, Pratilipi has emerged as a powerhouse of untapped talent and compelling narratives. This collaboration gives RKF, known for its emotionally resonant and high-quality productions, access to one of India’s richest and most diverse storytelling ecosystems.
As part of this strategic alliance, Pratilipi and RKF will jointly identify standout stories from the platform, co-invest in development, and produce them for leading studios and streaming platforms. The partnership plans to bring at least six projects—spanning films and series—to life over the next three years.
The first project to be launched under this alliance is Charitraheen, a powerful courtroom drama that has become a sensation on the Pratilipi app with over 21 million reads, 244,000+ user reviews, and an average 4.88/5 rating. The adaptation marks the beginning of a new chapter in transforming digital narratives into cinematic experiences.
Siddharth Roy Kapur, Founder and Managing Director of Roy Kapur Films, commented, “At Roy Kapur Films, we’re always on the lookout for compelling narratives that reflect the many realities and aspirations of India. Pratilipi’s dynamic ecosystem of storytellers presents an incredible opportunity to unearth and shape these voices into stories that entertain and move audiences across the world. We’re excited to bring our creative and production capabilities to this partnership and can’t wait to see these stories come alive on screen.”
Ranjeet Pratap Singh, Co-Founder and CEO of Pratilipi, added, “At Pratilipi, we’ve always believed that powerful stories can come from anywhere — a small town, a bustling city, from creators both seasoned and new. Our goal has always been to give these stories a stage. This partnership with Roy Kapur Films takes that vision one step further — to the screen. With RKF’s storytelling sensibility and production strength, we’re not just adapting stories; we’re elevating them for a larger audience. Charitraheen is just the beginning of what we believe will be a new era in Indian storytelling.”
This unique collaboration blends grassroots creativity with cinematic scale, providing a bold new model for story development in India. By tapping into Pratilipi’s content-rich platform and RKF’s industry expertise, the partnership aims to unlock stories that are authentic, impactful, and truly reflective of India’s cultural depth—ready to captivate audiences on both theatrical and digital platforms.
