New Delhi: VKAAO, India’s first ever ‘Theatre-on-Demand’ service that enables individuals to choose the films that play in their local theatres will do Sneak Preview screenings for Lion, the film that has been nominated for six Academy Awards this year including Best Picture.
Directed by Garth Davis, Lion features several prominent actors such as Dev Patel, Rooney Mara, Nicole Kidman, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and has been nominated for 6 Oscars including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Dev Patel), Best Supporting Actress (Nicole Kidman) and Best Adapted Screenplay. The movie can be watched in theatres through Vkaao ‘Sneak Previews’ before its theatrical release on February 24.
Speaking on this Kamal Gianchandani, CEO – PVR Pictures Ltd, said, “Vkaao has, within a short time of its launch, already created several exciting opportunities for movies to reach theatres and audiences through a community-led approach. We are delighted to take our brand proposition a step further by partnering with Lion for this special screening. Based on a real-life incident, the movie has already won six Oscar nominations. The special screening will be attended by representatives from Lion, Picture Works, PVR, the Australian High Commission, and Vkaao. The cast and crew of the movie as well as Saroo Brierley – the Indian-born Australian entrepreneur upon whom Lion is based – have endorsed its launch on Vkaao, which has disrupted the concept of theatre-based entertainment in India with its unique approach.
