Global creative innovation company R/GA has named internationally acclaimed designer Ren Rigby as its first Global Chief Brand Officer, marking a pivotal appointment as the agency sharpens its independent positioning.
Rigby, who rejoins R/GA from Proto — the design and innovation consultancy they co-founded — will report directly to Tiffany Rolfe, Chair and Global Chief Creative Officer of R/GA. In the newly created role, Rigby will be responsible for evolving the agency’s brand identity, branding its new AI products and blueprint ecosystem, and playing a strategic role in driving growth for R/GA and its clients.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome Ren back to R/GA. They are one of the most inspirational and awarded multidisciplinary design leaders in our industry,” said Rolfe. “At a time when generative technology can create infinite possibilities, it’s Ren’s craft — their ability to bring clarity, beauty, and purpose through design — that will ensure our brand and products stand apart with a distinctly human touch.”
Rigby said the move feels like a return to their creative roots. “Coming back to R/GA feels like coming home. For over four decades, R/GA has turned technological change into cultural breakthroughs that matter to people. This unique combination of design culture, rich history, and newfound independence makes this such a special moment to rejoin.”
Prior to co-founding Proto, Rigby held multiple leadership roles at R/GA, including co-founding its Business Transformation practice and serving as Global Head of Brand. They led major innovation projects for clients such as Nike, Google, Shopify, and PepsiCo. Rigby began their career at Britain’s The Chase Creative Consultants, before working at Pentagram London, True North, Landor, and Interbrand. A former Chairman of the Australian Graphic Design Association, Rigby has been honored with numerous awards, including DDB’s Bill Bernbach Award for Creative Brilliance.
The appointment underscores R/GA’s strategic investments since its transition earlier this year to an independent, privately held company in partnership with Truelink Capital. The agency has been expanding its talent pool, developing new products, and strengthening capabilities through partnerships and acquisitions, most recently acquiring AI system design studio Addition.
With Rigby at the helm of brand strategy, R/GA aims to reinforce its positioning as an innovation leader at the intersection of design, technology, and culture.
