Mumbai: Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios have appointed Serena Menon to lead communications across the Asia-Pacific region, even as Ananta Das steps down from her role as Head – Brand PR for Prime Video India & APAC, marking a senior-level transition in the streamer’s regional communications leadership.
Menon, who recently moved on from Netflix India where she served as Head of PR (Director, PR India), will join Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios to head the APAC communications teams spanning Mumbai, Tokyo and Singapore. She will report to Paul Woodomansy, Director of International Communications, Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios.
Confirming the development, Woodomansy said Menon will work alongside other regional communications leaders including Mounika Fernando, Communications Director for Europe, Middle East & Africa, and David Fleischer-Sanchez, Head of Communications for Latin America, Canada & Australia, as part of the company’s international communications leadership group.
Menon’s appointment comes alongside the exit of Ananta Das, who will leave the company at the end of the month. Das had joined Prime Video in August 2024 to lead regional brand communications across APAC, following more than six years at Amazon where she most recently served as Brand Lead – PR. Her next move is not immediately known.
Notably, Das’ replacement will be recruited into a regional brand communications role reporting to Menon as APAC communications head, signalling a restructuring of the regional communications hierarchy.
A seasoned communications leader with close to two decades of experience, Das has previously handled brand and corporate communications mandates across organisations including Johnson & Johnson, Tata Global Beverages and Colgate-Palmolive. At Prime Video, she was responsible for driving brand communications strategy across APAC markets, supporting the platform’s growing slate of originals and leading communications around content launches and industry initiatives.
Menon, meanwhile, brings a strong blend of media, entertainment and editorial experience to the role. At Netflix India, she led public relations and communications strategy across content, brand positioning and corporate storytelling during a period of heightened competition in the streaming sector. She played a central role in shaping Netflix India’s media engagement and narrative-building as the platform expanded its original content footprint and local storytelling investments.
Prior to Netflix, Menon worked as a journalist with Hindustan Times and ELLE before transitioning into strategic communications and marketing leadership roles. She has been with Netflix for over seven years.
