Shemaroo Entertainment has announced the acquisition of the complete content library of OHO Gujarati for its OTT platform ShemarooMe, marking a first-of-its-kind consolidation in the Gujarati OTT space.
The move significantly enhances ShemarooMe’s regional content offering, adding over 30 original Gujarati web series and featuring performances by more than 450 local actors. The acquisition builds on the platform’s existing strength in Gujarati programming, further expanding its curated library and culturally rooted storytelling portfolio.
Commenting on the development, Saurabh Srivastava, Chief Operating Officer – Digital Business at Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd., said, “As we bring the well-established catalogue of OHO Gujarati onto ShemarooMe, our focus remains on making high-quality Gujarati stories more accessible while continuing to invest in compelling content. With our strong connection to Gujarati viewers across the world, we believe these stories from the OHO catalogue can travel far and create an exciting entertainment offering for viewers.”
As part of the rollout, the first title from the acquired library, Vitthal Teedi starring Pratik Gandhi, will premiere on ShemarooMe from April 10. Set in 1980s Saurashtra, the series follows a small-time gambler navigating personal ideals and societal pressures, combining character-driven storytelling with a culturally rich backdrop.
The acquisition aligns with Shemaroo’s broader digital growth strategy, which focuses on sustainable expansion, deeper regional engagement, and building a robust pipeline of original and curated content across languages. By strengthening its Gujarati content ecosystem, the company aims to further scale its reach among regional audiences in India and globally.
