Kolkata: In a major boost to Bengal’s sporting landscape, Shrachi Sports has announced a strategic partnership with Z Sports to broadcast and stream the inaugural season of the Bengal Super League (BSL), beginning 7th December 2025. All matches will air LIVE on Zee Bangla Sonar and stream simultaneously on ZEE5, ensuring fans across India and beyond can enjoy uninterrupted coverage.
Adding star power to the league, legendary FIFA World Cup-winning captain Mr. Lothar Matthäus has been appointed the Official Ambassador of the Bengal Super League by Shrachi Sports. The tournament will feature eight dynamic teams from across the state, each representing the rich footballing culture of Bengal’s diverse regions.
The collaboration marks a significant milestone in enhancing accessibility and strengthening the state’s football ecosystem. With a robust broadcast and digital footprint, the BSL aims to elevate regional football to a national audience.
Ayan Banerjee, Chief Executive Officer, Shrachi Sports, said, “The Bengal Super League is a celebration of Bengal’s deep-rooted love for football. Our partnership with Zee Bangla Sonar and ZEE5 ensures that the spirit of the game reaches millions of homes, bridging the gap between stadium passion and living room excitement. Together, we aim to redefine how regional sports are viewed and celebrated”.
The partnership aligns with Z Sports’ vision of nurturing homegrown talent and expanding opportunities for athletes across the state.
Sanjoy Chatterjee, Chief Sales Officer, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., noted, “Zee Sports focuses on developing native, regional, national and international sports IPs – creating sustainable, scalable properties that inspire fandom and deliver long-term value. At Zee, our philosophy has always been to identify and celebrate talent across the length and breadth of India, and BSL is a natural extension of that vision – this time, through Bengal’s most loved sport, football. BSL, we feel, has the potential to become a cultural phenomenon. Brands who associate early are bound to get massive recall and emotional connect as the league is new and fresh, with high energy and low saturation”.
Echoing the excitement, Jalaluddin Mondal, Chief Channel Officer, Zee Bangla Sonar & Zee Biskope, added, “Zee Bangla Sonar is a one-of-its-kind General Entertainment Channel for Bengali-speaking audiences across India which blends fiction, non-fiction, films and new formats like telecasting LIVE sporting events. The Bengal Super League is new with vast potential and matches the very ethos of Zee Bangla Sonar with its vibe, vigour and vibrancy. With BSL matches telecast on Zee Bangla Sonar and streamed on ZEE5, we will be able to reach a much larger audience in West Bengal and beyond.”
Launched in July 2025 and licensed by the Indian Football Association (IFA), the Bengal Super League features eight franchise teams representing district clusters. Matches will be held across eight district venues, expanding professional football beyond Kolkata and providing a strong platform for emerging talent.
With extensive reach, immersive storytelling, and a strong regional fan base, the Bengal Super League is poised to become one of India’s most exciting new sports properties. Matches will be telecast at 1 pm and 4 pm on Zee Bangla Sonar and streamed LIVE on ZEE5.
