Silk Road Communications Appoints Mathewson as its Brand & PR Consultancy

Mumbai: Silk Road communications, a music publishing company and digital platform for music licensing, has appointed Mathewson as its Brand & PR Consultancy. Mathewson will be responsible for handling the brand communications and PR road map for the company towards establishing the brand’s focused and innovative business model: a circular copyright economy.

Silk Road Communications was founded by Achille Forler, a French national residing in India for 45 years.

After studying Sanskrit for twelve years and founding the Alliance Française in Ahmedabad, Forler pioneered the business of music publishing and highlighted the importance of a sustainable royalty system for music artists across the value chain – from lyricists to composers and singers. His company, Deep Emotions Publishing, founded in 1995, played a key role in the establishment of the right to royalties for songwriters which culminated in the amendments to the Copyright Act in 2012. He sold Deep Emotions Publishing to Universal Music Group that same year. In 2014, he founded Music Curator, a pioneering contextual music design service for luxury hotels. Since 2017, he is also Advisor to the Board of the Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS).

Silk Road Communications now aims to bring the promise of fairness, transparency, and sustainability enshrined in the Copyright Act to two hitherto neglected areas of the music industry: micro-licensing and background music. We are all set to make that announcement soon, said Achille Forler.

He further added: “Creative industries are critical for culture and national identities, but the business of copyrights and the global system of royalty-flow are complex, and therefore not always easy to comprehend. We are delighted to partner with Mathewson Brand & PR Consultants to help translate to a larger audience the core issues, the opportunities, and the tremendous impact that we expect our effort to build a Circular Copyright Economy will have for Indian creators and creative businesses”.
