Kolkata: SVF Cinemas, one of Eastern India’s largest cinema chains recently opened their 11th movie screen in Bengal with SVF Cinemas Nowapara. Situated in Hasnabad town and conveniently located just 15 minutes away from Basirhat & Taki, this theatre becomes the first Video hall in Bengal to have been converted into a fully air-conditioned Cinema hall.
The Video hall which was initially dependent on movie projections through basic LCD projectors and DVD players, now boasts of a best in class picture by virtue of a proper HD Cinema Projection System coupled with 5.1 digital surround sound. As mentioned earlier on, the cinema hall is fully air-conditioned, has comfortable seating, affordable food and beverage counter, clean toilets, 24×7 security and computerised ticketing facilities. All of these amenities are being provided keeping in mind the local demography and hence the ticket or food prices have been kept most affordable to make quality entertainment accessible to even the most remote areas of Bengal.
The single screen theatre has already recorded a large footfall and number of housefull shows post its inauguration last month.
Talking about this milestone achievement, Mahendra Soni, Co-Founder and Director, SVF Cinemas said, “ The endeavor to take cinema back to every nook and cranny of Bengal just like it was a couple of decades back is what keeps us driven at all times. Only this time round we din’t just want to make this an affordable way to enjoy movies but also the best possible way in which people can watch their favourite movies. Our target is to reach 100 screens by 2020 and establish the Bengali film industry as a frontrunner in the national exhibition scene. We just opened a 2 screen property in Baruipur last week and are prepping up for 2 screen properties in Jalpaiguri and Kalna within the next 2-3 months and have set ourselves a target to open properties at regular intervals to be able to achieve what we have set out to.“
SVF Cinemas has also started the soft run of their 12th and 13th screens with SVF Cinemas Baruipur Showhouse. The suave multiplex with a restaurant and retail space is equipped with 3D projection and other best in class amenities. A grand opening ceremony is scheduled on 10th of August with a special screening of SVF’s upcoming release – Crisscross, Bengali Film directed by Birsa Dasgupta.
