Mumbai: Ravi Makwana has joined Vadilal Industries as Chief Marketing Officer, a move he announced through a post on LinkedIn. Describing the appointment as a personal milestone, Makwana said he was “stoked” to take on the role at what he called a “very beloved brand” that he grew up with. He noted that working on a brand that shaped many of his childhood memories felt “surreal,” adding an emotional depth to the transition.
Commenting on the broader market landscape, Makwana observed that India’s ice cream category is experiencing heightened competition. Established players are becoming increasingly aggressive, while emerging entrants are introducing innovative formats and sub-categories. He described the evolving industry environment as a particularly interesting and dynamic phase, offering opportunities for brands to differentiate and innovate.
Makwana also expressed appreciation for the leadership at Vadilal Industries, saying he felt “privileged” to work alongside Managing Director Himanshu Kanwar and the company’s board members. He thanked the Vadilal leadership team for their trust and support and acknowledged the role of executive search firm Hunt Partners in guiding him through the transition process.
Before joining Vadilal Industries, Makwana held senior roles across a range of consumer-facing organisations in the food, beverages, wellness, quick-service restaurant and home and personal care sectors. His experience spans brand portfolio management, category strategy and integrated marketing leadership across major national brands—expertise he now brings to one of India’s most iconic and enduring ice cream companies.
