Mumbai: Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) has announced the appointment of Abhijit Kishore as its new Chief Executive Officer for a three-year term, effective August 19, 2025. Kishore, who currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer, will take charge following the completion of Akshaya Moondra’s tenure on August 18, 2025.
Kishore brings with him more than 27 years of experience in the Indian telecom sector, spanning diverse functions and geographies. He has been associated with VIL since March 2015 and has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s growth journey.
Before stepping into the role of COO, Kishore headed the Enterprise Business as Chief Enterprise Business Officer. Earlier in his career at Vodafone Idea, he served as Circle Business Head for the Gujarat and Kerala circles, where he spearheaded the launch of India’s first 4G services.
Moondra, who had taken over as CEO in 2022, will step down after completing his term. His leadership steered the company through a period of transition in a highly competitive telecom landscape.
The leadership change comes at a crucial juncture for Vodafone Idea as the company continues to navigate its financial restructuring and expansion of digital services.
