Wonderful® Pistachios launches First-Ever California Pistachios Advertising Campaign in India

Mumbai: Wonderful® Pistachios is celebrating the launch of its first international advertising campaign in India, “The Better Nut.” The campaign aims to spotlight the nutritional benefits of California pistachios, positioning them as a delicious, guilt-free, and protein-rich snack for health-conscious consumers.

At the heart of the campaign is a striking visual: a flexed arm made entirely of vibrant green California pistachios, symbolizing strength and nutrition. This imagery will be featured prominently across billboards, newspapers, unipoles, and Amazon app promotions, creating awareness about the health benefits of California pistachios.

Insights Driving the Campaign
“The Better Nut” campaign is based on findings from a global study conducted by Wonderful Pistachios across ten countries, which revealed:

  • 86% of consumers prioritize protein in their diets.
  • 58% of Indian consumers rank health above taste in their food choices.
  • Nuts are the second most popular snack in India, with 86% of shoppers buying them and 66% of urban Indians snacking on pistachios.

The ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN) has also recommended incorporating nuts like pistachios as a healthy snack and an essential source of plant protein in a balanced diet. Just 28 grams of California pistachios deliver 6 grams of protein, along with fibre and unsaturated fats, making them an ideal choice for mindful snacking.

Over the last six years, pistachio consumption in India has doubled, driven by a growing awareness of these nuts’ nutritional benefits.”

Michael Perdigao, President of The Wonderful Agency, added, “The Better Nut campaign inspires us to see that making a healthy snack choice is simple. This new campaign uses clean and impactful visuals that make it easy to understand why pistachios are a smart snack for any time of day.”

Harshada Menon and Siddhesh Khatavkar, Executive Creative Directors at DDB Mudra, remarked,”We are excited to collaborate with California Pistachios on this campaign. Our strategy blends global brand consistency with local adaptation to resonate with the Indian audience. In addition to the striking imagery created by TWC, our 3D installation of a giant pistachio will draw attention to the powerful health benefits of pistachios.”

The campaign will run for three weeks across high-traffic locations in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. Highlights include:

  • 3D installations of giant pistachios at select billboard sites to boost engagement.
  • Print advertisements in leading newspapers to create mass awareness.
  • A dedicated Amazon storefront featuring QR codes on campaign creatives for seamless purchases.

“The Better Nut” campaign is a collaboration between Wonderful Pistachios’ in-house team, Wonderful Agency, DDB Mudra for creative adaptation, and PHD India for media execution. This pioneering initiative sets a strong precedent for California pistachios as a staple of healthy snacking in the Indian market.
