Mumbai: WPP Media has announced the appointment of Vinish Mathews as Head – Team Fulcrum, South Asia, marking a key leadership move aimed at strengthening the agency’s strategic and client-centric focus across the region.
Bringing over 22 years of diverse experience in media, marketing, and client leadership, Vinish has worked across dynamic markets including India, China, and Southeast Asia, with deep expertise in sectors such as FMCG, technology, fintech, tourism, e-commerce, consumer durables, and automotive.
Prior to this appointment, Vinish served as Chief Strategy Officer at Mindshare India, where he was instrumental in delivering strategic solutions and driving innovation across key client portfolios. He has also held senior leadership roles managing the Google relationship at Media Futures Group across India and Southeast Asia, and served as a key executive at Mindshare China, leading high-impact campaigns for major global brands.
Vinish is not new to Fulcrum. In an earlier stint, he played a pivotal role in strategic media planning and client management for Unilever India’s Personal Care business, overseeing more than 30 iconic brands including Dove, Lux, Axe, Ponds, Vaseline, TRESemmé, and local favourites like Lakmé, Ayush, and Clinic Plus. He worked closely with Unilever’s top leadership and was part of the core team that secured the Unilever India digital media mandate in 2018.
His cross-border experience also includes supporting Unilever Pakistan by bringing Mindshare’s media best practices to its operations there. As a media strategist, Vinish has developed a strong reputation for driving media ROI, digital innovation, performance marketing, and portfolio strategy, while also stewarding multi-market teams across Beijing, Shanghai, and South Asia.
Earlier in his career, Vinish held positions at The Media Edge (Rediffusion Y&R) as Associate Media Director and at The New Indian Express as Senior Account Executive, where he built the foundations of a career grounded in media excellence and client value creation.

As Head of Team Fulcrum, South Asia, Vinish will be responsible for delivering strategic leadership across key advertiser portfolios and scaling media innovation in one of WPP’s most dynamic client ecosystems.
