Mumbai: WPP Media India has announced the appointment of Sairam Ranganathan as Head of Commerce, succeeding Atique Kazi, who exits the organisation after a distinguished 12-year journey to explore new opportunities.
Ranganathan, fondly known as Sai, brings over two decades of experience at GroupM India, where he has led diverse mandates across telecom, FMCG, consumer durables, e-commerce, retail, lifestyle, jewellery, tourism, technology, BFSI, and media & entertainment. Most recently, he served as Chief Digital Officer at Wavemaker India, playing a pivotal role in shaping the agency’s digital roadmap. He is also the co-author of the widely regarded ‘The Curious Digital Marketer’ series, underlining his thought leadership in the digital marketing ecosystem.
Kazi, who joined WPP Media in 2013, has been instrumental in scaling the agency’s digital, commerce, and performance marketing capabilities. He notably launched Xaxis in India, later taking on a regional mandate from Singapore, and spearheaded the expansion of GroupM’s AI-powered influencer marketing platform INCA across 10 markets.
His tenure also saw the launch of innovative initiatives including a self-serve platform for mid-market clients, a data-enabled OOH planning tool, and various digital transformation services aimed at future-proofing brands. In 2021, he was appointed President – Data, Performance and Digital Products and inducted into GroupM India’s Executive Committee.
Before his impactful tenure at WPP Media, Kazi held senior roles at Yahoo! in London, The Economist, The Times Group, and JVC, bringing a global perspective to his leadership.
