Kolkata: Zee Bangla has announced the launch of its new mega-serial Kamala Nibas, an emotional family drama that delves into the realities of a Bengali middle-class joint family, highlighting themes of resilience, sacrifice, and enduring values.
A Zee Bangla in-house fiction and a reimagining of Laxmi Nivas, the show revolves around a couple whose aspirations are rooted not in wealth or status, but in the simple dream of owning a home and securing a happy future for their daughters. As multiple generations live under one roof, relationships are tested, values are questioned, and love is pushed to its limits—revealing its power to either fracture or endure.
At the centre of the narrative is Kamala, played by Sohini Sen Gupta, who embodies quiet strength as a devoted wife and mother. Her character reflects integrity, faith, and resilience, even in the face of adversity. Alongside her is Shrinibas, portrayed by Debshankar Halder, a principled mechanic whose definition of success lies in dignity and respect rather than financial gain. His enduring promise to build a secure home for his family anchors the story’s emotional core.

“Kamala Nivas reflects the emotional backbone of countless Indian households. At Zee Bangla, we champion stories rooted in real lives and real emotions, and this show beautifully portrays the quiet resilience of middle class families, their values, sacrifices, and enduring bonds across generations. More than a family drama, it mirrors society and celebrates the strength of ordinary people. Produced by Zee Bangla’s in house team, continuing the legacy of Mithai, Neem Phuler Modhu, and Phulki, the show is enriched by the presence of brilliant actors and their powerful performances, most notably Sohini Sen Gupta and Debshankar Halder. Adding further gravitas is the very special return of Parambrata Chattopadhyay to television in an important guest appearance. Together, these elements make Kamala Nivas timeless,” said Navnita Chakraborty, Business Head, Zee Bangla & Chief Content Officer, ZEE TV.
The show also features a special guest appearance by Parambrata Chattopadhyay, adding further depth to the narrative.
Kamala Nibas aims to strike a strong emotional chord with audiences across age groups, reflecting familiar family dynamics and celebrating the quiet heroism of everyday lives. With its focus on realism and powerful storytelling, the show is positioned to resonate deeply with viewers.
The series premieres on April 13, 2026, and will air daily at 6:30 PM exclusively on Zee Bangla.
