Mumbai: Zee Cinema is all set to showcase the World Television Premiere of Maharashtra’s favorite Riteish Deshmukh and popular director Ravi Jadhav’s first Hindi film Banjo on Sunday, 20th November, 2016 at 8:30 PM.
Talking about the idea of the film, director Ravi Jadhav recalls, “Banjo had been on my mind for 5 years, when I was completing my film Natarang. Since that time, I wanted to do something for street artists of India as they do not have a platform to showcase their talent and earn the respect they deserve. When we talk about art forms like jazz and hip-hop, not many people know that they too are a part of street art and some of the greatest pop stars have emerged from the streets. I realized that not many people know about the instrument banjo or about banjo artists.”
Riteish Deshmukh, who portrays the band leader says, “Banjo is an attempt to get respect for the street art form. The movie is a reflection of all street artists, their struggles and emotions.”
The film traces the story of four banjo players – Taraat (Riteish Deshmukh), Grease (Dharmesh Yelande), Paper (Aditya Kumar) and Vajya (Ram Menon) from the under privileged sections of Mumbai and how they get an offer of a lifetime when they are approached by Christina (Nargis Fakhri), a musician from the US.
