Mumbai: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) has announced a new leadership role for Annkur Kapila, who has been appointed Executive Vice President – Sports Strategy & Business Development. In his new role, Kapila will lead the company’s sports strategy, rights acquisition and business development efforts as Zee sharpens its focus on growing its sports portfolio.
Kapila has been serving as EVP – National Head Sales for ZEE5, where he led the streaming platform’s national sales mandate and worked closely with internal teams and partners to drive commercial growth. With his new responsibilities, he will continue contributing to Zee’s growth by focusing on strategic opportunities in the sports business.
As EVP – Sports Strategy & Business Development, Kapila will be responsible for shaping Zee’s sports strategy, identifying and evaluating sports rights opportunities, driving business development initiatives, and building strategic partnerships. His role will also involve supporting the next phase of growth for Zee’s sports offerings across Unite8 Sports and ZEE5.
The appointment reflects Zee’s continued emphasis on strengthening its sports business and expanding its presence in the fast-growing sports broadcasting and streaming ecosystem. Kapila’s experience across media sales, partnerships and commercial strategy is expected to play a key role in driving the company’s long-term sports ambitions.
