Zee TV to launch Dance India Dance season 6

Share Share ShareShare

Mumbai:  Zee TV is all set to launch the latest season of Dance India Dance. Having introduced India’s youth to dance styles like Contemporary, B-boying, Hip-hop, Paso Doble, Lyrical Jazz, Tutting, Beat-boxing to name just a few, DID has been a beacon of hope for countless talented dancers across the country. Revolutionizing dance and making it a respectable career choice for the first time ever, DID has served as a stepping stone to the careers of much sought-after dancing stars including Dharmesh, Prince, Shakti Mohan, Punit J. Pathak and Raghav Juyal amongst others. Being the definitive platform in the country to give the common man an opportunity to chart their own destinies and realize their dreams and aspirations, Dance India Dance is the perfect embodiment of Zee TV’s core philosophy Aaj Likhenge Kal. The contestants’ journey to becoming India’s premier dance champions through  Dance India Dance Season 6 kick-starts on 4th November and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 PM on Zee TV.

Like every action-packed, dance-loaded season of the franchise, Season 6 promises to be #AllAboutDance. However, this time around, it’s not just the talent that’s new! While the legendary Mithun Chakraborty returns as the show’s revered Grand Master, the season marks the debut of acclaimed dancer-choreographer Mini Pradhan as judge alongside Marzi Pestonji and Mudassar Khan who have been a part of the DID family across previous seasons. Having matched Aishwarya step for step as a front-line dancer in Kajrare Kajrare to assisting the likes of Farah Khan, Vaibhavi Merchant and Geeta Kapur in choreographing some of their most iconic numbers, Mini has also been an integral part of the DID journey, albeit behind the scenes. This season will see her transitioning into facing the camera as judge. What’s more, comic online sensation Sahil Khattar and the multi-faceted Marathi mulgi Amruta Khanvilkar will make their television debut as reality TV hosts. If that’s not enough by way of novelty, Season 6 packs in yet another punch with weekly challenges to the contestants by industry stalwarts of the stature of Saroj Khan, Farah Khan, Shiamak Davar, Chinni Prakash and Pt. Birju Maharaj amongst others who will appear on the show. With the contestants adding exponentially to their learning curve under the guidance and expertise of these maestros, DID is, undisputedly, the Dance Ka Asli ID!

Talking about the sixth season of Dance India Dance, Deepak Rajadhyaksha, Deputy Business Head, ZEE TV said, “We are delighted at the universal popularity Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs, the No 1 non-fiction property across GECs this year, has enjoyed through its entire course. We follow that act with the sixth season of Dance India Dance – a franchise that has transcended the boundaries of a mere dance reality show and revolutionized the landscape of dance in the country. It was only after DID that dance emerged as a respectable career avenue for the youth of India. The show is the perfect emulation of Zee TV’s brand philosophy, Aaj Likhenge Kal which gives its contestants a platform to pursue their passion, hone their skills and etch their future. This year, Dance India Dance will showcase not only the most outstanding dance talent, but also some incredible entertainment through our  hosts – Sahil Khattar who has been ruling the digital space with his impeccable comic timing and Amruta Khanvilkar –  a reality television child, who after having emerged a winner of our very own Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj has gone to make a distinct mark for herself in both television and films. Our dynamic trio of judges, Masters Marzi Pestonji, Mudassar Khan and Mini Pradhan will bring in a fresh outlook and encourage the contestants to put their best foot forward throughout the season.”

Commenting on his return to the show, Grand Master Mithun Chakraborty said, “I have a strong emotional connect with Dance India Dance and I am elated that the show is stepping into its sixth season. This year will be extra special as Zee TV has completed 25 years and it gives us more reason to celebrate. My association with Zee TV has been very enriching. As Grandmaster, I feel responsible for the show and make sure that I motivate contestants to put their best foot forward, take charge of their destiny and realize their dreams.”

The core pitch of DID – #AllAboutDance will be amplified through Zee TV’s integrated marketing campaign that is a fine mix of multi-city outdoors, TV and digital. In the week leading up the show’s launch, Zee TV’s social media platforms will be #AllAboutDance with every tweet, post, reply going out as a form of dance.  As entertainment reaches unprecedented heights, this season will prove to audiences across the world that Dance India Dance is the ideal embodiment of the show’s tagline ‘Dance Ka Asli ID’.

Watch Dance India Dance season 6 on 4th November 2017 and airs every Saturday and Sunday 2017 at 9:00pm, on Zee Tv.
