Mumbai: ZEE5 is all set to premiere the much-anticipated Malayalam comedy-drama ‘Aabhyanthara Kuttavaali’ on 17th October. Directed by debutant Sethunath Padmakumar and produced by Naisam Salam, the film stars Asif Ali and Thulasi, with Jagadish and Harisree in supporting roles.
The story follows Sahadevan (Asif Ali), a temporary government worker in a cooperative society, who dreams of a happy married life with his bride Nayana (Thulasi). However, an unexpected turn on their wedding day changes his life forever. When Sahadevan receives 100 sovereigns of gold as a gift from his father-in-law, what should have been marital bliss turns into turmoil. Nayana soon files a case against him under Section 498A for dowry harassment and domestic abuse, raising questions about love, trust, and the complexities of modern relationships.
Speaking about the film and its digital premiere, Director Sethunath Padmakumar said, “Aabhyanthara Kuttavaali is meant to invite discussions. While Section 498A has been vital in safeguarding women, the film also asks what happens when someone is wrongly accused. Through humor and drama, we’re presenting both sides of this complex reality, and I’m glad that ZEE5 is giving this story a digital stage where it can reach audiences everywhere.”
Actor Asif Ali added, “Portraying Sahadevan was a unique challenge because he isn’t drawn in black or white. He’s an ordinary man caught in extraordinary circumstances. What I appreciate most is that the film doesn’t pass judgment, it simply raises questions. With ZEE5 bringing Aabhyanthara Kuttavaali to a wider audience, I hope viewers connect with Sahadevan’s journey and see it as a reflection of real dilemmas faced in society.”
