Mumbai: As a part of ‘Zindagi Awesomes’, Zindagi, the No. 1 premium entertainment channel presents Anup Singh’s critically acclaimed movie Qissa on 6th November, 2016 at 8: 00 pm.
The Indian – German drama film focuses on the obsession of a Sikh father towards having a son to continue the family lineage. The poignant drama tells the story of the daughter who is forced to live like a son.
The ensemble cast includes Irrfan Khan as Umber Singh, Tisca Chopra as Mehar, Tilotama Shome as Kanwar Singh, Rasika Dugal as Neeli. All the four main leads have given brilliant performance and were highly appreciated for pulling off the subject brilliantly.
Qissa was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section at Toronto International Film Festival (2013) where it won the Netpac Award for World or International Asian Film.
Qissa is a story revolving around Umber Singh, a Sikh who loses everything during the partition of India in 1947 and is forced to leave his homeland. He obsessively wishes for a male child. When his fourth daughter is born, Umber decides to challenge his destiny and fosters her as a son.
