The Year of Digital Content help UCWeb grab 55% share in India

Content has been the king of 2016.

Across the board, businesses are capitalizing on digital content to create newer methods of audience engagement. Experience-enhancing content is now a crucial element, adding value to its users and helping companies expand their reach and grow their brand.

With the explosive growth in mobile internet, the preference is for trending, relevant and ‘portable’ content at fingertips. With one- size-fits-all approach not sufficing, content that is unique, authentic and speaks to its audience directly has ruled the roost in all of 2016.

Focus on content is also helping brands like Alibaba-owned UCWeb scale new heights in India. The mobile browser, that has achieved over 55% market share, has a cricket section with live scores and videos, a built-in music partnership with Hungama, UC News, a news and content-aggregation service.

The platform recently hosted curated content from 4 most popular shows on Colors – Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Bigg Boss 10, Comedy Nights Live and 24: Season 2. UCWeb India also charted a success story through its tie-up with Fox Star Studios, India, Dharma Productions and Sony Music India to promote the highly-anticipated Karan Johar release, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. As part of the deal, UCWeb got first rights to ‘The Breakup Song’, and launched special section of unseen and exclusive footage from the movie, video bytes from the stars, movie trivia and special posters on its platform, UC Browser & UC News

9Apps, leading Android app store and part of Alibaba Group, has tied up with Disney India’s Interactive business to host and promote over 300 popular mobile games from its gaming catalogue with an aim to add value to our loyal and vast user base in the country.

Unique, high-quality content encourages audience engagement – making it easy to share and upload on social media and, in turn, fostering long-term relationship with its users.

Going into 2017, the future will be in creating rich, immersive, and engaging content that lasts – from text, video, imagery to infographic and GIFs and much more. While earlier people used to search and find information they wanted, now is the time when the right content will find the right person.
