RepIndia and Vinod Chopra Films Change the Game for Bollywood Marketing

Mumbai : RepIndia, the digital & brand marketing partner for Wazir, the new blockbuster film produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, have partnered with Vinod Chopra Films to release a first of its kind Facebook innovation for the digital marketing of the film.

Wazir stars Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar – in his first ever action film, Aditi Rao Hydari, Neil Nitin Mukesh and John Abraham in a special appearance. The star-studded film opens in cinemas on 8th Jan’16.

The first of its kind innovation sees the release of a 2-minute snippet of the movie exclusively shown on Facebook. This one-of-a-kind initiative raises the engagement bar beyond the use of trailer videos, to offer exclusive pre-release content to engage users digitally and provide a sneak peek about what the movie holds. Titled #FacebookKiChaal the innovation crossed 500,000 views in less than 24 hours.

Commenting on the innovation, Priyal Sanghavi, brand manager Digital for VCF said: “As a production house we have always strived for new ideas and encouraged innovations. Wazir being a unique genre deserved a unique premise in marketing. We decided to do something never done before – release exclusive content in digital media 48 hours before our film release. Audiences are embracing digital for everything and Bollywood forms a large part of the social chatter from consuming movie content and directly speaking to superstars.

We have always maintained a close connect with our audience with our cinema and we want to be where they are – online. I’m glad to see that paid off and we got a tremendous response and appreciation for the same. To quote one of our biggest movies always – Lage Raho!”

Ayesha Chenoy, CEO, RepIndia added: “It’s incredible the kind of innovations we can execute with nimble partners like Facebook. Huge credit is due to them for being so forward thinking and supportive with this innovation.”

Ishaan Ahuja, MD, RepIndia also stated: “Overall the Wazir digital campaign has in a way been a series of innovations but this is one that we are particularly proud to have been associated with. Facebook have yet again demonstrated their willingness to truly partner with us and our clients.”
