Republic TV’s Weekday Super Prime Time market share crosses 63% in week 14

Mumbai: The trend of News genre dominating the GECs viewership during the pandemic of the COVID-19 lockdown period continued in week 14 with Republic TV adding significantly more eyeballs to its share in English News Genre.

According to BARC data for week 14 (NCCS AB M 22+), the channel’s Weekday Super Prime Time viewership has touched a new all-time high figure with its market share touching 63.4% and overall share of the channel reaching a new high of 38.6%.

Weekday Super Prime Time:

In week 12, Republic TV led the way in the Super Prime Time band (9 PM to 11 PM) with a market share of 39.8%. It has only managed to grow in the consecutive weeks with a market share of 55.3% in week 13 and reaching its all-time high in week 14 with a market share of 63.4% which 5X the next competitor channel.

All Time band Market Share:

In terms of the All-Time band, (NCCS AB M 22+) Republic TV has been gaining the maximum growth in market share in the English News genre. In week 12 Republic TV dominated the market with 33.34% market share and continues to dictate the market with a growing market share of 36.95% in week 13. In week 14, the channel has reached its peak with an overall share of 38.6%, which is more than 2X, the next competitor channel.

The growing market share of English News genre, particularly the surging numbers of Republic TV is posing huge challenge for General Entertainment Channels during this Lockdown period
