Australia, Japan and Thailand win the most Grands Prix in APAC: Spikes Asia

Spikes Asia Grands Prix and Special Award Winners Announced

International: The Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity has today revealed the Grands Prix and Special Award winners, recognizing the best work from across Asia-Pacific’s branded communications industry.

Australia has taken the most Grands Prix with eight, followed by Japan with four and Thailand with three. Piyush Pandey, Chief Creative Officer, Worldwide & Executive Chairman, Ogilvy, India, and Jury President of this year’s Film, Print & Publishing and Radio & Audio juries said: “Good work stands out in good times and bad. I am glad that the jury had enough work to choose from, despite the difficulties that the world faced in 2020. Congratulations to all the worthy winners.”

This year’s Grand Prix winners are: 

Brand Experience and Activation: 

From 377 entries received, 46 Spikes were awarded: 5 Gold Spikes, 10 Silver, 30 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Stay Home Miles Exchange’, Thai Airways, Wunderman Thompson Bangkok, Thailand.

Creative eCommerce:

From 50 entries, 7 Spikes were awarded: 1 Gold Spike, 2 Silver, 3 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Publicly Traded’, Lifestyles, FCB/SIX NY, USA.

Creative Effectiveness:

From 24 entries, 2 Spikes were awarded: 1 Creative Effectiveness Spike and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Safety Hub’, NRMA, CHE Proximity, Melbourne, Australia.

Creative Strategy:

From 87 entries, 8 Spikes were awarded: 1 Gold Spike, 3 Silver, 3 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Project Free Period’, Johnson & Johnson, DDB Mudra, Mumbai, India.

Design:

From 150 entries received, 14 Spikes were awarded: 3 Gold Spikes, 4 Silver, 6 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Donation Dollar’, The Royal Australian Mint, Saatchi & Saatchi, Melbourne, Australia.

Digital: 

From 339 entries received, 28 Spikes have awarded: 4 Gold Spikes, 7 Silver, 16 Bronze and the Grand Prix that went to ‘“The Ocean: Future Masterpieces” Exhibition’, Yokohama Hakkeijima Inc., Dentsu Live Inc., Tokyo / Dentsu Inc., Tokyo / Dentsu Digital Inc., Tokyo.

Digital Craft:

From 66 entries received, 5 Spikes were awarded: 1 Silver Spike, 3 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘“The Ocean: Future Masterpieces” Exhibition’, Yokohama Hakkeijima Inc., Dentsu Live Inc., Tokyo / Dentsu Inc., Tokyo / Dentsu Digital Inc., Tokyo.

Direct:

From 221 entries received, 19 Spikes were awarded:  3 Gold Spikes, 5 Silver, 10 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Donation Dollar’, The Royal Australian Mint, Saatchi & Saatchi, Melbourne, Australia.

Entertainment:

From 108 entries received, 9 Spikes were awarded: 2 Gold Spikes, 3 Silver, 3 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Land of Lightbulbs’, Petronas, Directors Think Tank, Petaling Jaya / Ensemble Worldwide, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Film:

From 372 entries received, 16 Spikes were awarded: 1 Gold Spike, 7 Silver, 7 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Shop Unfriend’, Central Department Store, Wolf Bangkok, Thailand.

Film Craft:

From 227 entries received, 27 Spikes were awarded: 2 Gold Spikes, 8 Silver, 17 Bronze. No Grand Prix was awarded.

Glass – The Award for Change:

From 20 entries received the Grand Prix was presented to ‘Times Out & Proud Classifieds’, The Times of India, FCB India, Delhi, India.

Healthcare:

From 146 entries received, 15 Spikes were awarded: 1 Gold Spike, 6 Silver, 7 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Play’, Spark, Spark New Zealand, Auckland / Colenso BBDO, Auckland, New Zealand.

Industry Craft:

From 90 entries received, 8 Spikes were awarded: 1 Gold Spike, 3 Silver, 3 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Donation Dollar Coin (Small Scale Ambient/Outdoor)’, The Royal Australian Mint, Saatchi & Saatchi Melbourne, Australia.

Innovation:

From 8 entries received, 2 Spikes were awarded:  1 Innovation Spike and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Avatar Robot Cafe’, Ory Laboratory, ADK Creative One, Tokyo, Japan.

Integrated:

From 35 entries received, 3 Spikes were awarded: 2 Bronze and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Good Morning World’, Tourism New Zealand, Special Group, Auckland / Special Group, Sydney, New Zealand / Australia.

Media:

From 228 entries received, 23 Spikes were awarded: 5 Gold Spikes, 6 Silver, 11 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Play NZ’, Tourism New Zealand, TBWA\Sydney, Australia.

Mobile:

From 95 entries received, 9 Spikes were awarded: 2 Gold Spikes, 2 Silver, 4 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Stay Home Miles Exchange’, Thai Airways, Wunderman Thompson Bangkok, Thailand.

Music:

From 44 entries received, 6 Spikes were awarded: 2 Silver Spikes, 3 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Dream Baby Dream’, Spinifex Gum, SDWM Melbourne, Australia.

Outdoor:

From 162 entries received, 12 Spikes were awarded: 1 Gold Spike, 4 Silver, 6 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Donation Dollar’, The Royal Australian Mint, Saatchi & Saatchi, Melbourne, Australia.

PR:

From 219 entries received, 24 Spikes were awarded: 4 Gold Spikes, 10 Silver, 9 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Michelin Impossible’, KFC, Ogilvy Australia, Sydney, OPR Agency, Sydney, Australia.

Print & Publishing:

From 76 entries received, 3 Spikes were awarded: 1 Silver Spike, 1 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Language Sanctuary – Ad Space For Protecting Endangered Language’, Okinawa Times, Dentsu Inc., Tokyo, Japan.

Radio & Audio:

From 79 entries received, 5 Spikes were awarded: 2 Silver Spikes, 2 Bronze, and the Grand Prix that went to ‘Float Like a Dodo’, Defence Force Recruitment, VMLY&R, Melbourne, Australia.

The Grand Prix for Good was honored to ‘NZAF – Sperm Positive’, New Zealand Aids Foundation, DDB New Zealand, Auckland, New Zealand.
