Shiv Shivakumar, former Group Executive President- Corporate Strategy & Business Development at Aditya Birla Group has joined Advent International, a global Private Equity firm as its Operating Partner.
Shivakumar announced the move in a LinkedIn post.
He agreed in principle to join Advent International on 18th January 2023 and the formalities took the next 10 to 12 weeks. According to Shivakumar, Advent International was one of the best PE firms for Diversity and Inclusion in 2022.
Shivakumar was the Chairperson & Chief Executive Officer at PepsiCo Holdings Private Limited, India. Prior to that he was CEO for emerging markets at Nokia.
Shivakumar started his career as a management trainee in the Consumer Products Division at Hindustan Ciba Geigy before shifting to Hindustan Unilever Limited where he spent 19 years in sales, marketing and general management positions. He moved to Philips, India as Chief Executive Officer of the consumer electronics division in 2003.
He joined Nokia in 2006 as the Managing Director, India. Under his management, Nokia built its entire services portfolio, including Nokia Life Tools. He was also instrumental in pushing low-cost mobile devices across rural India.
In 2013, Shivakumar was appointed as the Chairperson & CEO of PepsiCo Holdings Private Limited, India where he managed brand portfolios across beverages, snacks and nutrition.
Advent International is a Boston based global Private Equity firm and is headquartered in Mumbai. It has about 125 operating partners globally.
An alumnus from both IIT Madras and IIM Calcutta, Shivakumar has received several accolades, the KPMG-AIMA award for Outstanding leadership, the Asian Association of Management organisations Asia leadership award, to name a few.
