‘Hindi News’ leads with 17pc News Genre advertising share on TV during Jul-Sep 2023: TAM Report

‘Hindi News’ leads with 17pc News Genre advertising share on TV during Jul-Sep 2023: TAM Report

According to TAM AdEx- Quarterly Advertising Report on TV NEWS Channel for Jul-Sept’23, ad volumes witnessed growth of 1pc and in Apr-Jun’23, growth of 7pc compared to Jan-Mar’23. News Genre observed de-growth in ad volumes in Jul-Sept’23 by 7pc compared to Jul-Sept’22.

In the Top 10 Sectors, ‘Services’ and ‘Food & Beverages’ retained their first and second positions during Jul-Sept’23 compared to Apr-Jun’23. Services led with 15pc share of News Genre ad volumes. ‘Banking/Finance/Investment’ was the only new entrant in top 10 list. The top 10 sectors together added 80pc share of ad volumes during Jul-Sept’23.

Among the Top 10 Categories, Cars ascended to first position with 5pc share of ad volumes during Jul-Sept’23 compared to its third position in Apr-Jun’23. Toilet Soaps, Corporate/Brand Image and Toothpastes were the new entrants in the top 10 list. The top 10 categories together added 27pc share of ad volumes. Retail Outlets-Jewellers descended to second position in Jul-Sept’23 compared to its first position in Apr-Jun’23.

Reckitt Benckiser (India) was the leading advertiser during Q’1, Q’2 & Q’3 of 2023. It led with 7pc share of ad volumes during Jul-Sept’23. Also, Hindustan Unilever, SBS Biotech and Amazon Online India retained their second, sixth and tenth position respectively compared to Apr-Jun’23. The top 10 advertisers collectively added 24pc share of ad volumes. Life Insurance Corporation of India was the only new entrant in the top 10 advertisers list.

4.5K+ Brands were present on Television Advertising for News Genre during Jul-Sept’23. Dettol Toilet Soaps, Policybazaar.Com and LIC-Corporate were new entrants in the top 10 list. Lalithaa Jewellery retained its first position. Out of the top 10 brands, three of them belonged to Reckitt Benckiser (India).

In the Top Growing Categories, 180+ categories registered positive growth. ‘Mortgage Loans’ saw highest increase in ad secondages with growth of 55pc on Television Advertising for News Genre . In terms of growth percent among Top 10 categories, Cellular Phones-Smart Phones witnessed highest growth of five Times during Jul-Sept’23.

‘Hindi News’ was the leading Subgenre for advertising on News Genre with 17pc share of ad volumes during Jul-Sept’23. Top 5 channel subgenres accounted for 54pc share of ad volumes.
