PepsiCo India to invest INR 1266 cr in flavour facility in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh

‘In India, for India’, the new plant embraces the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat - spread across 22 acres, this state-of-the-art plant will create direct & indirect job opportunities in the region.

PepsiCo India has announced a INR 1266 cr investment to establish a modern flavour facility in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, demonstrating its commitment to expanding operations. This 22-acre plant will boost beverage production, create jobs, and benefit the local economy.

Embracing Atmanirbhar Bharat, PepsiCo India opens second flavour facility in India, producing ‘In India, for India’. The innovative plant reflects PepsiCo’s commitment to scaling operations and positively impacting communities. Aligned with ‘Winning with pep+’ philosophy, it implements cutting-edge technologies for eco-conscious operations.

Jagrut Kotecha, Chief Executive Officer, PepsiCo India & South Asia, said, “With support from the government of Madhya Pradesh, we aim to strengthen our footprint while driving impactful progress in enhancing the socio-economic landscape of the region. Bolstering the ‘Make in India’ vision, the new flavour manufacturing facility will champion sustainability, aligning with our ‘Winning with pep+’ philosophy, creating a positive value chain while delivering on our promise of continuous innovation in our products. Through meaningful engagement, our goal is to work towards comprehensive development, contributing to the holistic advancement and welfare of the communities we serve.”

George Kovoor, Senior Vice President, Beverages, PepsiCo India, said, “We are excited to announce the setting-up of our second flavour manufacturing facility in India, a significant testament to PepsiCo’s unwavering commitment to the region. We aim to ramp up the production of our beverages to meet the rising demand in the country. This strategic investment not only strengthens our dedication to providing the highest quality beverages to our consumers but also reinforces our responsibility to drive sustainable practices across our operations.”

Aligned with PepsiCo India’s global sustainability goals, the plant will run on renewable energy, reducing carbon footprint by 1.9 metric tons daily. Using Zero Liquid Discharge tech, it targets 90% water efficiency, replenishing all water used.

PepsiCo plans a second flavor plant in Channo, Punjab, to strengthen its India presence and benefit the region socio-economically. Construction starts in 2024, with operations anticipated by early 2026.
