Sahas aur Jazbe ki ek anokhikahani – based on a real-life rescue mission of 1989, Mission Raniganj pays homage to the late Jaswant Singh Gill, who saved the lives of 65 miners trapped in a flooded coal mine. Akshay Kumar who plays the role of Jaswant Singh showcases the unwavering determination and courage in rescuing miners trapped inside the Raniganj coal mine by deploying a specially crafted rescue capsule. Unfolded from the pages of India’s Greatest Rescue Mission, the film is set to premiere on Zee Cinema on Thursday, 23rd May at 8 PM.
The recent Uttarakhand tunnel incident of 2023 remains vivid in our minds. On 12thNovember 2023, one section of the Silkyara-Barkot tunnelcollapsed, trapping 41 construction workers inside. It took 17 days and tireless efforts of rescue team led by an Australian Rescue expert Arnold Dix to save them. A team of rat-hole miners in the rescue team broke through the debris and pushed a pipe to remove the workers one by one.Mission Raniganj, much like the Uttarakhand incident, showcases the tale of bravery and resilience. Bringing true events to screen and honoring the valor of India’s unsung heroes, Mission Raniganj brings to fore the essence of hope and taps into the human psyche and behavior when put in a life-threatening situation.
