Mumbai: Motorsport innovation meets superhero spectacle as Lola Cars and Warner Bros. Discovery announce a dynamic multi-year partnership that combines engineering excellence with pop culture power. The collaboration kicks off with a high-voltage activation at the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Berlin, timed with the global release of DC Studios’ “Superman”.
At the heart of the launch, the Lola T001, driven by Zane Maloney and Lucas di Grassi for the Lola Yamaha ABT Formula E team, will sport a striking Superman-themed livery—featuring the iconic red, blue, and yellow hues and the superhero’s legendary ‘S’ shield emblazoned on the chassis. The drivers will also don custom race suits modeled after Superman’s costume, bringing the comic book icon to life on the track in Rounds 13 and 14 of the Berlin E-Prix at Tempelhof Airport.

Keith Smout, Chief Commercial Officer, Lola Cars said, “This partnership with Warner Brothers is a great milestone for Lola Cars, utilising the motorsport platform to create engaging content not only for our mutual benefit but also that of our sponsors. It’s an example of how we can build partnerships that go beyond traditional models and generate added value to all parties. To kick off this collaboration with a celebration of a film centred around one of the most recognizable superheroes is a statement of the impactful activations we plan to implement together. This is a fantastic opportunity for not only Lola Cars and the team, but Formula E as a whole, to reach new audiences and build excitement around this growing sport.”
The partnership goes beyond aesthetics. Lola Cars and Warner Bros. Discovery will co-produce original content spotlighting current and future motorsport projects, team stories, and brand collaborations. The Warner Bros. logo will appear on the Lola Yamaha ABT car as part of a wider content and sponsorship alignment, opening up new opportunities for enhanced media packages and joint commercial efforts.

Patrick Maitrot, GVP Global Sales at Warner Bros. Discovery, said, “Superman is one of the planet’s most legendary and much-loved characters. By teaming up with one of the most world’s most exciting motorsport events and leader in motorsport engineering and technology in Lola Cars, together we will channel superhero energy and push the Lola T001 to the peak of its powers in Berlin. Our suite of global brands and IP is unmatched and by harnessing our creative capabilities through a unique activation that celebrates the electrifying action of both brands, we will amplify the excitement of Formula E and Superman fans around the world ahead of the race and film release.”
The Superman-themed race coincides with the release of “Superman”, DC Studios’ first theatrical feature film, produced by Peter Safran and James Gunn, who also serves as director and screenwriter. The film, based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, releases worldwide on July 11, 2025.
Fans can catch the superhero-fueled races on TNT Sports and discovery+ in the UK, and across Eurosport and HBO Max in Europe, including exclusive coverage in Nordics, Poland, Spain, and Turkey, reaffirming Warner Bros. Discovery’s position as the Home of Formula E in Europe.
For motorsport fans and superhero devotees alike, this collaboration promises superhuman speed, style, and storytelling — on and off the track.
