New Delhi: Travel booking platform EaseMyTrip on Friday announced that co-founder Prashant Pitti has stepped down as Managing Director with immediate effect. The board has named Nishant Pitti as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), subject to shareholder approval.
Nishant, who co-founded the company with his brothers Rikant and Prashant, said the expanded role would allow him to steer the company’s long-term ambitions with a sharper focus on innovation, growth, and value creation for stakeholders. “This gives me the opportunity to work even more closely with our people to unlock new opportunities, scale new heights, and continue building a travel-tech brand that India can be proud of,” he said.
The leadership reshuffle comes months after Nishant had resigned as CEO earlier this year, citing personal reasons. At that time, his brother Rikant Pitti was appointed Chief Executive Officer.
EaseMyTrip underlined that it is now evolving beyond travel into a broader ecosystem of services and businesses, a vision Nishant will continue to drive as CMD. The company also reiterated its earlier assurance that no promoter shares would be sold and that all founders will draw zero salary, reinforcing their commitment to shareholder trust.
Meanwhile, the outgoing MD Prashant Pitti will focus on mentoring startups, pursuing entrepreneurial projects, and contributing to public-good initiatives, according to the company’s statement.
The announcement follows a period of scrutiny earlier this year when the Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at Nishant Pitti’s premises. The company at the time had strongly denied any links, direct or indirect, with the Mahadev betting app or other betting platforms.
