Mumbai: Audio series platform Pocket FM has launched a moving new chapter of its acclaimed brand series, Sound of Courage, to mark the International Day of the Girl Child. The latest film brings to life the remarkable story of young girls from Rajasthan who defied convention and fought against child marriage—finding empowerment, identity, and joy through football.
Created in collaboration with the Mahila Jan Adhikar Samiti (MJAS), the film captures how these girls transformed an open patch of land into their own football field, creating a space that symbolizes freedom, confidence, and self-worth—values their mothers and grandmothers were long denied.
Growing up in communities where education and sports opportunities for girls were severely limited, many faced early marriages and societal restrictions. Yet, a few determined girls who began playing football sparked a movement that inspired their villages to rethink long-held gender norms. What began as play became a statement of equality, resilience, and courage.
“Football gave us permission to dream,” says Maina Choudhary, one of the players featured in the film. “When we play, nobody tells us who we can or cannot be.”
The initiative has since had a transformative ripple effect—encouraging more girls to pursue education, parents to support their daughters’ ambitions, and local communities to discourage child marriage. Several players have even gone on to represent their districts at the state level.
“In today’s world, it’s easy to get lost in the noise. With Sound of Courage, we want to bring forward unique and unheard stories across the world that lift our spirits and remind us what courage truly looks like,” said Vineet Singh, SVP – Brands, Pocket Entertainment. “The story of these Rajasthan girls reminds us that real change begins quietly when people are given a voice, a chance, and the space to dream. This film is a celebration of everyone who dares to rise above limitations and redefine what’s possible.”
The Rajasthan story follows the earlier Sound of Courage film that spotlighted the Indian Women’s Ice Hockey Team, expanding the campaign’s focus from national triumphs to grassroots empowerment. Together, these stories reinforce Pocket FM’s belief that courage is universal—found in every voice that dares to challenge societal boundaries.
Conceptualised by Pocket Entertainment’s in-house creative team and produced in partnership with Colonial Films, the film blends storytelling and social impact to celebrate how courage, when voiced, can transform communities.
