Google has elevated Aditya Swamy, a seasoned media and marketing professional with over two decades of experience across consumer brands and digital platforms, to the position of Managing Director for Google Play. In his expanded role, Swamy will oversee operations across 14 countries, including India, Southeast Asia, and Australia, steering the platform’s growth strategy and partnerships across some of the world’s most dynamic digital markets.
A key focus for Swamy will be strengthening the developer and startup ecosystem. He works closely with app creators, investors, and early-stage entrepreneurs, enabling them to scale innovative digital products and expand access to new audiences. Swamy also leads Google’s engagement with India’s startup community through the Google for Startups initiative, helping founders and venture capital firms accelerate the growth of digital-first businesses.
Before joining Google, Swamy held senior leadership roles at several of India’s most influential companies. He began his career in sales and marketing at Coca-Cola, later moving to Viacom18, where he served as Chief Executive Officer of MTV, shaping the network’s youth and pop culture strategy. At Flipkart, as Senior Director of Marketing, he played a pivotal role in creating large-scale retail moments such as the Big Billion Day sale.
An MBA graduate from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Swamy brings a unique blend of global business acumen and local market insight.
