MUMBAI: The second installment of the Kantara franchise was the major pan India release in October 2025. The film performed as per its forecast in the home market (Karnataka), with a deviation of only 4%. The actual performance was within reasonable deviation in other South markets too. With a short marketing campaign, the film under-performed vis-à-vis its potential in the Hindi market, despite having the advantage of a holiday (2 October) release.
This edition of a monthly blog summarises Ormax Cinematix’s box office forecasts (FBO) for all major October 2025 releases vis-Ã -vis their actual box-office openings
‘Thamma’ and ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ released on Diwali, and the staggered celebration of the festival over two days made their forecast less reliable. Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat outperformed its forecast, boosted by its collections in smaller towns and single screens.
‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, the other major Hindi release of the month, was forecast within 12% of its actual performance.
Tamil film ‘Dude’ fell short of its forecast by 34%, while all other South Indian films were forecast with good accuracy levels. There were no International, Punjabi and Marathi language releases in October 2025 that collected Rs. 1 Crore or more on their opening day.
