Mumbai: EiPi Media has announced a licensing partnership with Pran’s Features LLP and Toonz Media Group to develop branded, AI-powered microfilms and digital content featuring iconic Indian characters Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu. The initiative signals a shift in how legacy Indian intellectual property is being reimagined, experienced and monetised for a digital-first audience.
Pran’s Features LLP, the copyright owner and custodian of Chacha Chaudhary, has licensed EiPi Media to create AI-driven, short-form animated content for branded applications, while preserving the humour, values and visual identity envisioned by late cartoonist Pran Kumar Sharma. The project aims to unlock the untapped commercial potential of legacy IP by combining advanced AI-led production with storytelling expertise and scalable digital distribution.
Designed for high engagement across social and digital platforms, the content seeks to introduce Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu to new-age audiences while strengthening their presence within brand-led and platform-native ecosystems. The characters will be reimagined as hyper-realistic, expressive AI personas, enabling cinematic storytelling at the speed and scale required for today’s digital environments.
Commenting on the partnership, Rohit Reddy, Founder and CEO of EiPi Media, said, “This collaboration marks a bold step forward in unlocking the true potential of India’s timeless legacy IP. Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu are cultural treasures that have inspired generations with their wit, heart, and problem-solving spirit. By harnessing AI, we’re not just modernizing them – we’re creating hyper-realistic, emotionally resonant stories that brands can authentically integrate into, delivering experiences at digital speed. Our goal is to keep the characters’ original charm and values intact while making them active participants in today’s fast-moving, story-driven digital world. This is about building long-term narrative value that resonates across platforms and generations.”
Nikhil Pran, Director, Pran’s Features LLP, added, “Chacha Chaudhary has always evolved with time, from print to television and now to AI-powered animation. Partnering with EiPi Media allows us to embrace new technology while remaining faithful to the essence of a character loved by generations. Created by my father, Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu became part of everyday cultural literacy across age, language, and geography, and that universality is what makes the IP meaningful today. This step thoughtfully extends our legacy”.
Viswanath Rao from Toonz Media Group said, “We are enthusiastic to bring Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu into a new AI-powered era in a way that is visually striking yet emotionally faithful. For the first time, these characters are being reimagined as hyper-realistic, expressive AI personas built for digital-first platforms. EiPi Media is creating a narrative universe where they move beyond static frames into performance-driven experiences. The focus is on realism, continuity, and control, avoiding both dated animation formats and shallow AI novelty, while allowing the characters to evolve without losing who they are.”
The partnership is anchored in maintaining fidelity to the original visual identity, humour and values of Chacha Chaudhary, while adapting the medium to contemporary consumption patterns. EiPi Media is developing a flexible narrative system that enables seamless brand integration, allowing brands to become part of stories audiences choose to watch rather than relying on traditional placements.
Planned outputs include branded short-form films, brand-led narrative campaigns and integrated digital storytelling formats. By combining the trust and familiarity of a legacy IP with contemporary cinematic language, the initiative positions Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu as living participants in the future of storytelling—powered by AI and guided by cultural relevance, emotional depth and long-term narrative value.
