Mumbai: After a decade-long association marked by historic milestones, Olympic and World Champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and JSW Sports have mutually announced the conclusion of their formal partnership. The development coincides with Chopra embarking on a new entrepreneurial chapter with the launch of his own athlete management firm, Vel Sports.
Neeraj’s journey with JSW Sports began in 2016, when he was identified through the JSW Sports Excellence Program (SEP). What followed was one of Indian sport’s most successful athlete–management partnerships, spanning a decade of sustained excellence on the global stage.
Fondly known as the ‘Man with the Golden Arm’, Neeraj Chopra scripted history by becoming the first Indian to win an Olympic gold medal in track and field at the Tokyo 2020 Games. He went on to secure a World Championship gold in 2023, followed by a silver medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024, alongside multiple podium finishes across international competitions.
With the launch of Vel Sports, Neeraj enters the world of athlete management during the prime of his competitive career—an unconventional but forward-looking move. JSW Sports has played a supportive role in facilitating this transition, reflecting the mutual respect that has defined their partnership.

“Working with Neeraj has been an incredible experience for all of us at JSW Sports. His success story reflects our shared philosophy of excellence and purpose. We’re immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together and wish him continued success in all his future pursuits,” said Divyanshu Singh, CEO, JSW Sports.
Reflecting on the association, Neeraj Chopra said, “Over the last decade, our journey together has been one of growth, belief, and achievement. JSW Sports has played a defining role in my career, and I’ll always remain grateful for their support and vision. As we conclude this chapter, I carry forward the same values into the next phase of my journey.”
As the two part ways, both organisations emphasised their shared legacy of trust, belief, and achievement. While Neeraj Chopra steps into entrepreneurship with Vel Sports, JSW Sports continues its mission of nurturing and supporting India’s emerging athletic talent, building on a partnership that has left an indelible mark on Indian sport.
