Bengaluru: The Public Relations Council of India (PRCI), India’s apex body for communications professionals, has announced the appointment of Dr T Vinayakumar as Chairman of its Governing Council, marking the beginning of a new leadership phase for the organisation.
The appointment was formalised at a ceremony in Bengaluru attended by senior industry leaders and members of the communications fraternity. Dr Vinayakumar brings with him over 46 years of experience across advertising and public relations. He is the Founder and Senior Partner of Guide Advertising & PR and Chairman of KomeVertika, and also serves as Trustee and Founder Secretary of the Pepper Creative Awards Trust. A former National President of PRCI, his return to a leadership role is seen as a strategic step forward for the council.
Commenting on his appointment, Dr T Vinayakumar said, “Our mission remains steadfast: to provide a platform for professionals to excel and to ensure that the voice of Indian communication resonates on a global stage.”
PRCI has also announced the constitution of its new Governing Council. Chinmaye Praveen, K Ravindran, C J Singh, Dr T S Latha, Arijit Majumdar, Dr B K Ravi and B Ravi Mahapatra have been inducted as Directors. MB Jayaram, Srinivas Murthy B, and GeethaShanker (National President) will be part of the council, while S Narendra and Dr K R Venugopal will continue as Directors. Dr Prashanth Venugopal has been appointed Chairman of the Young Communicators Club (YCC). Pashupathi Sharma will take over as Secretary General, and U S Kutty will serve as Senior Vice President of the National Executive.
Established in 2004 by Founder, Chairman Emeritus and Chief Mentor MB Jayaram along with a group of senior professionals, PRCI has grown into the country’s largest forum for public relations and communications practitioners, with 60 chapters across India. The organisation focuses on promoting excellence, professional development and thought leadership in the communications industry.
Looking ahead, PRCI has outlined an active calendar, including a CEO Meet in Delhi, Foundation Day celebrations in Kolkata in April, and the 20th Global Communication Conclave scheduled for November in Chandigarh. In addition, zone- and chapter-level programmes will be organised around key occasions such as Daughters Day and World Communications Day, alongside workshops, training sessions and seminars.
PRCI also anchors the World Communicators Council (WCC), its international communications forum, which currently operates across 10 chapters worldwide, further strengthening India’s engagement with the global communications ecosystem.
