Mumbai: Malaysia Airlines has entered into a landmark partnership with Mumbai Indians, India’s biggest and most successful cricket franchise, becoming both the Associate Sponsor and Official Global Airline Partner of the team. The collaboration marks a significant step in the airline’s strategy to drive sports-led brand and commercial growth across key global markets, with India at the forefront.
The partnership was officially unveiled at a launch ceremony held at Jio World Gardens, Mumbai, underscoring Malaysia Airlines’ long-term commitment to strengthening its presence in one of its most important growth markets. As part of the association, Malaysia Airlines will feature prominently on the Mumbai Indians jersey, positioned on the right chest. The ceremony was attended by Mumbai Indians Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene, along with senior representatives from the franchise.
Adding a cultural touch to the announcement, one hundred Wau Bulan kites were released at the venue to mark Makar Sankranti, symbolising the coming together of Malaysian and Indian cultures. With over 55 million cumulative followers across India and international markets, Mumbai Indians offer Malaysia Airlines a powerful platform to connect with a vast global audience and extend its signature Malaysian Hospitality beyond borders.
