Chennai: Sustainability and infrastructure-led development emerged as the two central pillars for Chennai’s next phase of growth at the inaugural Super Chennai Conclave 2026, where policymakers, industry leaders and civic stakeholders convened to chart a citizen-driven roadmap for the city’s transformation.
Positioned as a collaborative platform, the conclave focused on translating the Super Chennai Manifesto from ideas into actionable outcomes. The event underscored Chennai’s ambition to evolve into a resilient, future-ready and globally competitive coastal city, balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility.

The conclave commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, I.A.S., Additional Chief Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu; Chairman & Managing Director, TANGEDCO; and Chairman, TNPGCL. Emphasising collaborative governance and citizen participation, he said, “Chennai’s history has always worked in its favour. Built layer by layer, ours is a city rich in culture, enterprise, resilience and an extraordinary talent pool that powers Tamil Nadu’s growth. I envision Chennai emerging as a fully integrated, climate-resilient coastal city supported by reliable, future-ready infrastructure. Sustainability must guide how we design transport, strengthen public health and create economic opportunity. Chennai must lead not by comparison, but by competing confidently on the global stage. That requires alignment between government, private enterprise and citizens. When we move together, collective aspiration becomes measurable progress — and that is how we build a benchmark coastal capital for the future.”
Hosted by Super Chennai, a citizen-led initiative, the conclave brought together more than 200 delegates, including policymakers, entrepreneurs, real estate leaders, technology founders and urban planners. Discussions throughout the day centred on investment and industry growth, urban infrastructure, tourism, sustainability, technology and innovation, entrepreneurship and inclusive development.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjeeth Rathod, Managing Director, Super Chennai, said, “The conclave represents the transition from consultation to implementation. Over the past several months, we have engaged with citizens and domain experts to shape a framework that reflects shared priorities for the city’s growth. The discussions here reaffirmed the alignment between policy leadership and industry stakeholders. The focus now is on structured follow-through so that the recommendations translate into measurable progress for Chennai.”
The conclave was also attended by Dr. T R B Rajaa, Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, Government of Tamil Nadu, highlighting the emphasis on public-private collaboration in shaping Chennai’s long-term growth trajectory.
Industry representation included leaders from manufacturing, hospitality, venture capital, technology, real estate and startup ecosystems, reinforcing cross-sector commitment toward the city’s development agenda.
What distinguished the Super Chennai Conclave 2026 was its citizen-first approach, with insights gathered from broader public participation shaping the core discussion themes. The initiative now moves into its next phase, with focused workshops and collaborative working groups aimed at converting dialogue into measurable outcomes and implementation pathways.
With sustainability and infrastructure emerging as the defining levers, the conclave signalled a structured, multi-stakeholder push to position Chennai as a benchmark coastal capital driven by collective civic vision and coordinated action.
