Mumbai: Nandagopal Rajan has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer – Digital at The Indian Express. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer at the organisation and has been associated with the company since 2013, marking his second stint with the group.
Announcing the development on his LinkedIn handle, Nandagopal shared, “When I rejoined Indian Express in 2013, we were 30 people in a basement. Today we are 550+, spread across multiple floors and at least ten cities. The video team — then literally one person — now fills an entire floor. I have watched this company transform before me, much like watching my son grow from a baby to a teenager.
Stepping into the role of CEO of The Indian Express Digital, I am very aware that it is not about a title. It is about responsibility — to Anant Goenka’s vision, to George Varghese’s belief that we must always be content-led, and to every person who built this organisation and keeps it running every day. It is also a responsibility to every Express reader who expects nothing but credible journalism from us, every day, every hour.
I want to take a moment to thank Sanjay Sindhwani who has created a stable launchpad for us to create new opportunities. This wonderful team can rise up to the new challenges of the times we live in. Here is to new milestones and, of course, great stories.”
Prior to his current role, Rajan has worked with leading media organisations including India Today, The Indian Express, and Hindustan Times. He began his career as a Senior Copy Editor at Hindustan Times in 2000.
With decades of experience in journalism and digital media, he brings deep expertise across storytelling, online journalism, content development, copy editing, breaking news, corporate communications, and digital media strategy.
