Mumbai: Times Music, owned by The Times Group, has announced the acquisition of Catrack Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., marking its third strategic acquisition and a significant step in expanding its music catalogue. The move also strengthens its ongoing partnership with Primary Wave Music, bringing a culturally rich Punjabi music legacy into its portfolio for global monetisation and renewed discovery.
Founded in 1990, Catrack Entertainment is regarded as a pioneering Punjabi music label that played a defining role in shaping the genre’s golden era. Its catalogue features celebrated artists including Babbu Maan, Malkit Singh, Channi Singh, and Dolly Singh, alongside early works from Manmohan Waris, Surjit Khan, and Sukhwinder Panchhi. With enduring cultural relevance and a strong digital presence, the catalogue presents opportunities across sync licensing, film and OTT integrations, brand collaborations, and modern reinterpretations.
This acquisition follows Times Music’s earlier purchases of ARC Musicq and Symphony Recording Co., reinforcing its position as an active consolidator in India’s music IP landscape.
