Mumbai: Tejkarran Singh Bajaj, Senior Vice President and Head of Originals at Jio Studios, has stepped down from his role, according to sources. He is expected to remain with the company through June before transitioning to a new opportunity in July.
Bajaj joined Jio Studios in December 2018 and has since been instrumental in building and scaling its Originals business. During his tenure, he led the creative, strategic and commercial direction of the studio’s content slate, spanning multiple genres, languages and distribution platforms.
He oversaw the entire content lifecycle—from development and production to partnerships, licensing and monetisation—while aligning projects with platform requirements, audience preferences and revenue objectives. His role also included shaping content investment strategies, optimising returns across productions and licensing deals, and building cross-functional teams to support the Originals vertical.
Under his leadership, Jio Studios developed a diverse multi-language slate of over 50 shows. His portfolio includes titles such as Inspector Avinash, Apharan 2, Code M 2, Doctors, Bajao, Sangamarmar, Magic of Shiri and Sankalp, among others. He also played a key role in forging content partnerships with OTT platforms.
Prior to Jio Studios, Bajaj was associated with ZEE5, where he headed the original content division. Earlier in his career, he worked with Maxus (WPP Media) as Senior Creative Director for Content across the West and South regions.
He has also served as a creative consultant, advising broadcasters and production houses such as Endemol India, Miditech and Essel Vision Productions on non-fiction and entertainment formats. Additionally, Bajaj was part of the core team that launched NDTV Metronation, India’s first metro-focused lifestyle channel, where he contributed across production, content strategy and team management.
His departure comes after nearly six years with Jio Studios, marking a transition phase for the company’s Originals business.
