News18 India Revamps Primetime Line-Up with New Editorial Architecture

New Delhi: News18 India has unveiled a revamped primetime programming strategy, introducing a refreshed lineup of anchors and formats aimed at delivering greater depth, diversity and audience engagement across the news cycle.

In an internal communication to staff, Jyoti Kamal, Managing Editor of News18 India, described the new schedule as a deliberate effort to align the channel’s programming with evolving viewer expectations and consumption patterns.

“Leadership in news isn’t just about reach — it’s about staying relevant,” Kamal said, adding that the network has rebuilt its primetime offering around a mix of editorial voices and formats designed to cover multiple dimensions of news and current affairs.

The revamped lineup features Major Gaurav Arya, Arpita Arya, Prateek Trivedi, Amish Devgan, Kishore Ajwani, Sushant Sinha and Aman Chopra, with each anchor leading a distinct format tailored to specific audience interests.

The new schedule begins at 3:45 PM with Command Centre, anchored by Major Gaurav Arya. The programme focuses on defence, national security and geopolitical developments, leveraging Arya’s military background to simplify complex strategic issues for viewers.

At 4:50 PM, Goonj marks the return of Arpita Arya to News18 India. The show is positioned as a platform for sharp news analysis and audience-focused storytelling, targeting younger and digitally connected viewers.

Bhaiyaji Kahin, hosted by Prateek Trivedi at 5:50 PM, seeks to amplify grassroots perspectives through field reporting and public interaction, reflecting developments and concerns emerging from across the country.

The 6:50 PM slot continues with Aar Paar, anchored by Amish Devgan. The programme remains one of the channel’s flagship political debate shows, focusing on national political discourse and current affairs.

At 7:50 PM, veteran journalist Kishore Ajwani fronts Sau Baat Ki Ek Baat, a research-driven programme aimed at connecting broader trends and developments across sectors. The weekend editions will also feature exclusive interviews with prominent newsmakers.

The explanatory journalism segment of the lineup comes at 8:50 PM with Desh Ki Pathshala, hosted by Sushant Sinha. The programme focuses on providing context and analysis around major national and international developments, helping viewers understand the background and implications of key stories.

The primetime schedule concludes at 10 PM with Aman Chopra’s Desh Nahi Jhukne Denge, a show that has established a strong identity around issues of national interest and public discourse.

According to Kamal, the revamped lineup has been designed as an integrated editorial framework that combines strategy, politics, field reporting, explanatory journalism and debate programming.

“Taken together, these hours represent a deliberate editorial architecture: strategy, politics, field reporting, explainers and debate — each distinct, all complementary, united by a single purpose of helping viewers make sense of a fast-moving world,” he said.

The move comes as television news networks increasingly seek differentiated programming formats to cater to fragmented audiences and changing news consumption habits across television and digital platforms.
