Mumbai: Times Network has strategically acquired OpiGo, a leading stock advisory marketplace and investor engagement platform. The acquisition marks a significant milestone in ET NOW’s evolution, propelling the brand beyond traditional business news and live television into a comprehensive, technology-driven fintech ecosystem.
As part of the integration, OpiGo will become a key pillar of ET NOW Pro, a premium subscription offering designed for India’s growing community of retail investors. The subscription will provide access to live trade ideas and recommendations from SEBI-registered Research Analysts (RAs), curated investor communities, exclusive market insights, premium financial content, and access to ET NOW’s Pay TV channel. The platform aims to bring together trusted financial journalism, expert research, investor engagement and technology-driven investing tools within a single ecosystem.
On the acquisition, N Subramanian, Executive Director and Group CEO, The Times Group, said, “India’s financial ecosystem is undergoing a generational transformation. Millions of new investors are entering capital markets and are seeking trusted information, expert guidance and meaningful participation. The next phase of growth will be led by platforms that combine credible financial content with technology, intelligence and community. ET NOW has built deep trust over the years as India’s leading business news destination, and with OpiGo and ET NOW Pro, we are taking a significant step toward building a comprehensive investor ecosystem for the modern Indian investor.”
ET NOW’s expansion into fintech builds on the rapid growth of its digital business news platform, ETNow.in, which was launched in 2023. In less than three years, ETNow.in has emerged as one of India’s leading digital business news destinations and today ranks among the country’s top business news platforms on Comscore. The platform’s strong growth reflects increasing consumer demand for trusted financial content and positions ET NOW to expand further across advisory, community and investor engagement offerings.
Founded by Devansh Mehta, OpiGo was among the early innovators in India’s social investing landscape. At a time when anonymous groups and unverified stock-tip communities dominated investor conversations, OpiGo pioneered score-linked social investing and later evolved into a marketplace infrastructure connecting investors with SEBI-registered experts and research providers, well before the broader retail advisory ecosystem gained mainstream adoption. The platform scaled to nearly one lakh downloads and built a highly engaged investor community focused on informed investing and research-backed decision-making.
Commenting on the acquisition, Devansh Mehta, Founder, OpiGo, said, “When we started OpiGo, our vision was simple: make retail investing more transparent, intelligent and accountable. Joining forces with ET NOW will scale this vision significantly and create a trusted destination where investors can seamlessly access quality content, expert research and investing tools within one integrated ecosystem.”
The acquisition comes at a significant milestone for the brand as ET NOW celebrates its 17th anniversary. Over the past seventeen years, ET NOW has established itself as one of India’s most trusted business news brands, serving millions of investors, business leaders and market participants through its television and digital platforms. The launch of ET NOW Pro and the acquisition of OpiGo represent the next phase of ET NOW’s evolution – from a business news broadcaster to a comprehensive financial intelligence and investor engagement platform.
