London: Diageo has appointed Procter & Gamble veteran Sujay Wasan as President of its Asia-Pacific (APAC) business, strengthening its leadership team as the global spirits maker prepares for its next phase of growth in the region.
Wasan joins Diageo after nearly 28 years at Procter & Gamble, where he most recently served as Regional Leader for the company’s Oral Care business in North America. He succeeds John O’Keeffe, who previously served as CEO & President of Diageo Asia Pacific, Global Travel and India before taking over as President of Diageo North America in March.
According to reports, Wasan will assume his new role on August 15. He will become a member of Diageo’s Executive Committee and report directly to the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Dave Lewis.
Announcing the appointment, Dave Lewis, CEO, Diageo, said, “We’re delighted that Sujay will be joining Diageo. He is a global leader with a proven track record of consistently delivering breakthrough business results.”
Wasan brings extensive experience across consumer goods, having held a range of leadership positions during his nearly three-decade tenure at Procter & Gamble. His expertise spans business transformation, commercial growth and brand leadership across global markets.
The appointment comes ahead of Diageo’s scheduled announcement of its full-year FY2026 financial results, during which the company is also expected to outline CEO Dave Lewis’ strategic priorities for the business.
The leadership change follows a series of senior executive appointments at Diageo in recent months. In July, the company named a new Group Chief People Officer from biopharmaceutical company Sanofi, while reports in June indicated that UK Managing Director Barry O’Sullivan would step down amid broader organisational changes.
Wasan’s appointment reflects Diageo’s continued focus on strengthening its leadership bench as it seeks to accelerate growth across the strategically important Asia-Pacific region.
