TV Today Network Q1 Profit Climbs Nearly 40% as Television Business Drives Earnings Growth

Noida: TV Today Network reported a strong start to FY27, posting a 39.6% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, supported by a sharp turnaround in its television and digital media business.

The broadcaster recorded a consolidated net profit of Rs 10.26 crore during the first quarter, compared with Rs 7.35 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Revenue from operations grew 4.6% to Rs 206.22 crore, up from Rs 197.19 crore a year earlier. While operating revenue improved, total income rose at a slower pace of 2.3% to Rs 212.66 crore, reflecting a decline in other income to Rs 6.44 crore from Rs 10.64 crore in the year-ago quarter.

The company’s continuing operations delivered a notable improvement in profitability. Profit before tax from continuing operations increased 37.4% to Rs 13.74 crore, while profit from continuing operations rose to Rs 10.11 crore, compared with Rs 7.26 crore in the same quarter last year.

The key driver of the performance was the television and other media segment, which reported a profit of Rs 12.88 crore, a significant jump from Rs 2.91 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Revenue from the segment, representing the company’s continuing business, also increased to Rs 206.22 crore from Rs 197.19 crore.

On the cost front, TV Today Network kept overall expenditure broadly under control. Total consolidated expenses stood at Rs 198.92 crore, compared with Rs 197.83 crore a year earlier.

Among major expense heads, production costs increased 12.4% to Rs 25.45 crore from Rs 22.64 crore, while employee benefit expenses remained largely stable at Rs 88.79 crore. Other operating expenses declined to Rs 76.19 crore, down from Rs 78.98 crore in the year-ago period, helping support the company’s improved margins.

Meanwhile, the company’s radio broadcasting business continued to be classified as a discontinued operation following its planned divestment. During the quarter, the business generated revenue of Rs 2.79 crore, compared with Rs 1.25 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, while profit before tax improved to Rs 0.21 crore from Rs 0.12 crore.

TV Today Network had signed an agreement in November 2025 to divest its radio business to Abhijit Realtors and Infraventures for Rs 10 crore. As part of the transaction, the radio operations are being transferred to the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Vibgyor Broadcasting, following which the buyer will acquire the subsidiary’s entire shareholding.

The divestment process has continued to progress through the regulatory approvals. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has already granted in-principle approval for the transfer, with the Grant of Permission Agreement being shifted to Vibgyor in January 2026. Subsequently, the Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing approved the migration of the wireless operating licence in April 2026.

The company said the disposal remains highly probable and has accordingly continued to classify the radio business assets and liabilities as a disposal group held for sale as of June 30, 2026.
