Mumbai: The Abhay Ispat Group, one of India’s most trusted names in value-added steel solutions, has announced the appointment of Dr. T. Venugopalan as Group Technical Advisor across its businesses, including its flagship coated steel brand, Colorshine.
Dr. Venugopalan, former Chief Technology Officer and Technical Advisor to the Managing Director of Tata Steel, is a highly respected metallurgist with over four decades of leadership experience in the steel industry. His expertise spans ironmaking, steelmaking, galvanizing, coated steels, and advanced high-strength steels for infrastructure, automotive, and industrial applications.
A globally recognised academic and researcher, Dr. Venugopalan has served as Adjunct Professor at IIT Madras, authored more than 120 technical papers, and holds over 60 patents in metallurgy and steel technology. His contributions have earned him several accolades, including the National Metallurgist Award (2010), Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (2014), Fellow of the Indian Institute of Metals (2015), and the Eminent Engineer Award (2019) from the Institution of Engineers.
